HighFive with Kim Hyun Joong

Months before the much anticipated visit of Korean Idol Kim Hyun Joong, my wife told me that she wanted to come to the event. Since it was still long before he comes to the Philippines, I thought that she was just kidding around. That type of thinking was with me until last August 23, when she told me that she would be on half-day leave the next day at her office to have the once in a lifetime chance of being be able to stand in front of her idol that she just once watched at home in Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss.

Okay, I'll admit it. I am also a fan, not only of Kim Hyun Joong but more of the Korean Telenovelas.. So I, too, took a half day leave from office. But Im not like those who went to attend the event and waited as early as 6 in the morning to be able to buy the album together with the opportunity to have a high five with Kim Hyun Joong.

We went to Trinoma Mall around lunch time. We arrived at the activity center where the album and tickets are being sold, only to found out that the line was way longer than what we anticipated. The result, she were not able to buy the album.

But that did not stop her in pursuing her dream. She may not be able to greet Kim Hyun Joong in person and have a high five with him, but she settled to see Kim Hyun Joong from not so far distance. This is through FaceShop promo: for every Php500 worth of merchandise and another Php500 for the Kim Hyun Joong album, anyone could be able to have another opportunity to see Kim Hyun Joong. So we went to Face Shop for this, only that time the merchandise should be at minimum of Php1000. A customer even commented that she should have brought the ticket the other day while the quota was at Php500. But still we bought the album together with the merchandise. My wife also bought face mask and we tried it at home just like what we see in Koreanovelas.

We had our lunch at Yellow Cab and noticed that some of the customers were also waiting for the start of the event which was still a long wait at 6PM. I admired all fans who stayed that day: from waiting in line for at least 4 hours to buy the ticket plus waiting another 6 hours before the actual event, only to have a glimpse of Kim Hyun Joong for just a few minutes.

Since we had bought a ticket for tomorrows event, I thought that we are about to leave and she would just come back the next day. Surprise!!! We still waited for the event. We just walk around the mall to kill some time off.

At round 5PM, we noticed that the crowd is starting to pile up around the activity center all the way up to highest floor level.

We settled at a location near a fire exit that more security personnel are guarding so we thought that Kim Hyun Joong will come out from there towards the stage. The event started past 6PM, there were some intermission numbers before the crowd started chanting: "KIM HYUN JOONG! KIM HYUN JOONG!" and at around 7PM after waiting from the sidelines, the fire exit door opened at out came the man of the day. I tried to shoot from a far using DASH but failed big time. I wish I was an event photographer so that I get a higher chance of bieng invited in such events. I still pushed around pepole just to be able to take a snap shot but to no avail, there were to much crowd pushing around. We retreated to fight another day. Well, my wife will certainly return the next day. So we just headed home with just stories to tell.

The following day, August25, we went to our respective offices. My wife was excited for the event later that afternoon. She left office around 4PM and just took the MRT going to Trinoma Mall. I was just going to meet her there after the event. Since I was not able to watch that day, I just attached below a amateur video shoot of Kim Hyun Joong taken by my wife .
