Singapore - Day 1

I set my alarm at 6AM, but feels like it was just 5AM. When we peeked outside our window, it was still dark outside. I didn't know that the sun usually shows up at about 7AM.

Excited to explore this new place and I also needed to buy distilled water for my daughter's milk. Being first timers in another country, I brought my passport with me and my English dictionary, figuratively speaking. While they were preparing things that we needed for the day, I explore the streets of Singapore on my own. Did I mention that it was raining that early in the morning? Maybe it was the reason why it was still dark outside? Let's see on the next day.

After I brought the distilled water from a nearby 7-11 convenient store, I was headed back to the hotel. I think it was 7AM and stores and hawkers are just about to open, unlike in Manila where stores especially the likes of Divisoria where stores opens very early in the morning. We had our breakfast at the hotel, I did not shoot any for breakfast that day. Maybe tomorrow.

After our breakfast, we are now headed for our first stop in this adventure field day, ION Orchard.

We are here to buy shirts that I think is only available in one of the stores here, UNIQLO. And we also scheduled our lunch in 4FINGERS that serve one of the best tasting chicken I've tried. But unlike the stores near SEA hotel, most of the stores are still closed in ION. Good thing that mall is already open and we are able to shoot some pictures inside.

It's already near 11AM but UNIQLO was still closed. We decided to have our lunch first but 4FINGERS was also closed. We just walked around and wait for the stores to open. And been able to take some more photos.

After a few minutes of taking pictures and walking around the mall, 4FINGERS finally opened. We are the first customers and ordered 2 sets of Chicken Burger meal and Chicken Rice Box meal.

Just like in Davao, we took turns eating our meals while someone is taking care of my daughter. After my wife finished her meal, she took our daughter and walk around the food court. Chicken Burger is really good. And after finshing it I could barely eat the Chicken Rice Box that my wife left for me.

My wife finally returned and they bought a ice cream from Marvelous Cream for dessert.

After we finished our meals, we then went to UNIQLO to buy some clothes. My wife wanted to buy for me a limited edition Naruto shirt. Our nephew also bought one. My wife and her sister bought their own shirts. After our mini-shopping spree, we headed next to Lucky Plaza. We took a taxi, a Mercedes Benz, going to Lucky Plaza. One of the officemate of my wife ask us to buy for her perfumes.

The taxi driver dropped us through the back door of the Lucky Plaza building. Upon entering the area, I already noticed the number of people. It was like a shopping mall with ongoing sale here in the metro. Most of the people there were Pinoys having their free time from work. The Dollars & Scent where we bought the perfumes have Pinoys working for them. After buying the perfume we headed out to our next location. We exited at the main entrance, but there were already a line of waiting people for the taxi. Maybe its because it still continues to rain. We decided to head back at the back door. We walked along the sidewalks of Singapore right beside Lucky Plaza, where we saw stores uncommon here in Manila.

We also saw a Giordano outlet where we bought our daughter's shirt. After several minutes of walking, we still not been able to get to the back of the building, so we went back inside Lucky PLaza again and traced back ours steps. After going though a maze of people, we were able to get out through the back. We then waited for a taxi to bring us to another location.

It took us about 30 minutes to get to our next location, the Underwater World Singapore.

There were also a lot of people there in spite of the constant rain that day. We headed to the Seal show, the dolphin show was cancelled then due to the mating season, where we were seated at the right side of the main area. I was just able to take pictures when they are near our area. we enjoyed the show, which lasted about an hour.

After the show, we headed back to main area to explore them some more. My daughter enjoyed watching and sometimes scared of the creatures that could be found under the sea.

After we toured the area, we went back to the hotel to rest and be able to have strength for the remainder of the day. We were able to take some photos at the nearby temple before we proceed to the hotel to rest. My daughter fell asleep as soon as we arrived at our room.

At 7PM, we left the hotel and continued to explore the other landmarks of Singapore. We took a taxi and went to the Singapore Flyer.

We did not ride the Singapore flyer, we just went there to take some pictures and went on our way to Esplanade Mall at Marina Bay.

We just walked around the area and took more pictures of the MBS and the Helix. There are light show at the MBS.

After two hour of walking and taking pictures, we dicided to have our dinner at No Signboard Seafood. A friend suggested that we eat at Makansutra, but there were a lot of people during that time. We went looking for No Signboard Seafood Restaurant and we passed by a show where a pianist was playing while suspended about 5 meter from the ground and an acrobatic show. They were able to do several stunts in 30 minutes.

After the show we went straight to No Signboard to have our dinner.

They were serving different variety of seafood dishes including crabs. We wanted to buy them for dinner but just settled for a sampler that was good for four persons. The seafood platter was great although their food are a little pricey.

After our meal, we went next to the most well known landmark here in Singapore, its almost synonymous to its name, The Merlion. On our wat there, I was able to take some more pictures of the place.

After several pictures taken at the Merlion and the nearby hotels and buildings, it was time now to go back to the hotel.

It was now 10:30 PM and we still have another day ahead of us. It was quite difficult to get a taxi during these late hours of the day, most if not hired were already going home. We were able to get to the hotel around 11:30 PM.

What a tiring but fun day for all of us, but it was just the beginning of the adventure, Day 2 is just a sleep away.

Singapore - Day 0

Maybe you are wondering why the our new adventure started at day 0. You will be able to understand it better after you finished reading our today entry.

Thanks for the promos given by airline companies nowadays, we were able to get one from AirPhil Express, a huge discount to travel to other country. This is the first time that we are to travel outside the country, except for my wife who traveled to Singapore during the time she was employed in Accenture. We are now ready for our new adventure. This time we brought together with us my sister-in-law and her son. I'm really excited about this trip. And I tried my best not to show it my wife.

We left home at about 11 AM. We would like to check-in early and be able to fill-up our tummies before our 4 PM flight. We arrived at NAIA 3 before 12 noon. We are early for the check-in so we just waited for the check-in time. Taking this opportunity to take pictures inside the airport.

After checking in our luggage we now went inside the departure area. And like I said we had our early dinner. We ate nachos and siopao, we needed a slightly heavy meal for the three hour flight.

We boarded at around 5PM and was able to take off at 5:30 PM.

This time my wife and her sister were taking turns in keeping my daughter's noise at minimum. It was quite hard to take shots during the flight, good thing I was able to make one while flying towards Singapore.

We arrived at Changi Airport and I was amazed of their airport. No wonder it was voted one of the best airport in Asia. And maybe in the whole world. (More photos inside the airport will be posted on a later blog entry.)

After getting our luggage and exchanging our pocket money to Singapore Dollars, we took a taxi to our hotel, the South East Asia Hotel located in Bugis. The very first thing that I noticed after getting inside the taxi is that it was right hand drive. And I begun to wonder if it is difficult to drive them because I am accustomed to left hand drive (I've been only driving for a year now). Most of the taxi in Singapore are new models, unlike here in the Philippines. We arrived at the hotel and checked in at around 11PM. Good thing we brought instant noodles and hotdogs, we were able to relieved our aching tummies. After arranging our things we are now ready to fall asleep.

Now I think you know why I put a title of Day 0 for this entry post. Or maybe I could I use Day 0.125?

P.S. Sorry for the late post of the Singapore adventures, too much work here in the office. Thank you for waiting.

Davao, Philippines - Day 4

Day 4, our last day in Davao. I woke up early morning to take some photos of the hotel.

After our usual breakfast, my wife left together with Paul for their duty that morning. And after putting our daughter to sleep, I fixed our luggage and prepare to check-out of the hotel by lunch time while watching the semi-finals between Dallas and the now ousted OKC Thunders. We check-out at about 12 noon, and left our luggage at the reception area.

We had our lunch at Dencia's Restaurant, where we planned to have our lunch there the other day (I think you know what had happened, in case you missed it, here is the story Davao, Philippines... Day 3...).

After lunch, we went to Abreeza Ayala Mall to kill some time off. We also went to Robinson's Supermarket, which is inside the Ayala Mall, to buy some pasalubong to our relatives back in Manila. We headed back to the hotel and got ready to leave for our flight back to Manila at 6PM. On our trip going to the Davao International Airport, we passed by a store to buy some pomelo, one of the sweetest pomelo I've ever tasted.

It was a very tiring but fun travel for all of us.

I wonder where we are headed next... I heard it was a "FINE" City...
